There are a number of accessories available to complement the ACORN
Superglide Stair Lift.
These accessories are designed and manufactured to provide comfortable,
practical and cost effective
solutions for individuals with additional mobility and physical
or sometimes for more complex stair configurations.
Acorn Stairlift Features
Electronic and mechanical braking systems
The stairlift is fitted with these essential safety systems to
eliminate any possibility of an uncontrolled descent of the stairlift.
Operating local throughout Long Island, we are one of the Local
leading suppliers of new stairlifts and reconditioned stairlifts.
Along with our unique Stairlift Repair service, we have firmly
established a reputation for quality, customer satisfaction
and value for money.
At the end of either an ascent or descent, the stairlift will come to
a 'soft stop' due to the limit sensors.
These ensure that the stairlift always stops in the correct position.
Choice of Control
An Acorn stairlift can be controlled via 2 methods, a simple 'paddle
switch' and the infra-red remote control.
The 'paddle switch' control is located at the end of both arm rests of
the stairlift and can be operated by hand.
You will receive two infra-red remotes with every stairlift which
enables you to call the stairlift to either end of the stairs.
The infra-red remote is wireless so there are no messy cables trailing
around your home,
or unsightly wall mounted control stations. If both remotes are used at
the same time,
the paddle switches will override the remote controls, that means that
the person on the stairlift will be in control of the stairlift.
All Acorn stairlifts come with an inertial reel lap harness, this is
like a seat belt in a car, and will keep you securely
on the seat of the stairlift at all times. Safety is a priority when
going up the stairs.
Swivel seat with locking catch
To allow easier mounting and dismounting of a stairlift, an Acorn
stairlift comes with a swivel seat.
The swivel seat locks in position via a catch located on the seat which
enables you can use the stairlift with ease.
The stairlift will not operate unless the seat is in the correct riding
position, this means that you can be confident
that your journey on the stairs will be safe and secure..
Pressure sensitive safety surfaces
If there is an obstruction on the stairs, our stairlifts will detect
it with at least one of the five pressure sensitive
surfaces situated around the stairlift. If an obstruction is detected,
the Acorn stairlift will cease movement
so you can move the obstruction. The pressure sensitive surfaces are
located around the footrest and
the top and bottom of the stairlift carriage.
Diagnostic digital display
Mounted on the carriage of the stairlift is a digital display which
shows clearly when the lift is in the normal
operating position. Also it provides invaluable diagnostic information
in the unlikely event of a fault with your stairlift.
The fold-away construction makes the stairlift unobtrusive and allows
full access of the stairs.
Sit and Stand Frame
With a sit/stand frame, you can choose whether to use the stairs in
the usual seated position or to stand on the footrest. With a special
steady/security bar for stability, it is ideal for anybody who may have
bending their knees, or where multiple users with different requirements
will be using the stairlift.
The Superglide Perch Stairlift may also be suitable.
The lower section of the rail folds up and out of the way when not in
allowing greater access at the foot of the stairs. The option of a
hinged rail is ideal
when there may a doorway near the foot of the stairs.
When the stairlift is not is use, the rail is neatly out of the way and
causes no obstruction.
Key Locking System
All Acorn stairlifts can be locked, preventing unauthorized use, with
